Adding a Router
Follow these steps to onboard your MikroTik router to the Altostrat portal.

Welcome to the guide on connecting your MikroTik router to the Altostrat portal. By following these steps, you’ll quickly and securely integrate your device for centralized management.
Detailed Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Access the Altostrat Portal
- Log in at https://sdx.altostrat.app.
- Navigate to Sites in the main menu.
Step 2: Create or Select a Site
- Click + Add to begin the onboarding process.
Step 3: Express Deploy
- On the site’s overview page, click Add Router (or a similarly labeled button).
- A pop-up or new page will appear, guiding you through Express Deploy.
Step 4: View Control Plane Policy
- Select a Control Plane Policy (Default or custom).
If you only have a default Control Planee Policy, it will automatically take you to the next step.
- A new pop up will open showing the settings for your Control Plane Policy

Step 5: Review and Accept Changes
- Preview the router settings that will be applied (e.g., firewall rules, VPN configs).
- Click Accept if everything looks correct.
Step 6: Copy the Bootstrap Command
- A unique Bootstrap Command will be shown.
- Copy this command to your clipboard.
Step 7: Run the Command on Your MikroTik Device
- Open Winbox or SSH into the MikroTik CLI.
- Paste the Bootstrap Command and press Enter.
- Wait a few moments for scripts to execute and finalize the onboarding.
Step 8: Confirm Router Visibility in Altostrat
- Return to the Sites page in Altostrat.
- Verify that your router is listed and showing Online.
If it’s offline or not visible, verify internet connectivity, recheck the bootstrap command, or consult Orchestration Logs.
You’ve now successfully added your MikroTik router to Altostrat and can begin monitoring or configuring it from the portal. If you need more advanced setup, explore additional docs like WAN Failover or Management VPN.
