Core Concepts
Teams
Organize users into teams for resource ownership and collaboration in Altostrat.
Introduction
In Altostrat, a Team is a structured group of users collaborating to manage devices, sites, and associated resources. Teams form the backbone of resource ownership and let you easily control who can see and change what.
Resource Ownership
- All resources (like sites, policies, scripts) belong to a team.
- Only members of that team can interact with its resources (view, update, or delete), depending on their Roles & Permissions.
Collaboration
- Teams enable groups working on the same projects to share device access and policy controls.
- For instance, a NoC Team might manage daily operations, while a Security Team focuses on threat monitoring and policy enforcement.
Flexibility
- A single user can join multiple teams, useful for large organizations with overlapping duties.
- Teams can also represent departments, projects, or clients.
Creating a Team
- Navigate to Settings → Teams From your Altostrat dashboard, select Teams to open the Team Overview page.
- Click +New
- Provide a Team Name that fits your business context (e.g., “NoC Team,” “Security,” or “Project X”), and then click on Add ->.
- Owner & Defaults By default, the user creating the team is the owner and is automatically added to the team.
- Invite Additional Members (optional) See Users to learn how to add or invite people into this team.
Editing a Team
- Select the Team In Team Overview, click on the team you want to update.
- Update Team Info Modify the Team Name, add or remove members, or adjust settings like the Site Limit.
- Auto-Save Changes typically save automatically, so no extra button is required.
- Check Roles Members’ capabilities also hinge on their Roles & Permissions.
Removing a Team
Deleting a team also removes all resources owned by that team unless they are transferred elsewhere first.
- Open the Team From the Team Overview, choose the team you wish to remove.
- Click the Trash Icon; A confirmation dialog will appear.
- Confirm Deletion
If you’re sure, proceed. The team and its resources will be deleted permanently. Double-check that you’ve migrated any vital devices or sites to another team beforehand.
